Leon C. "Bud" Reimler

Leon C. “Bud” Reimler, 88, of Sumner, died Friday, January 6, 2017, at Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner with Rev. Scott Duffus officiating. Burial will follow at Union Mound Cemetery in Sumner. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8^th at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the church Monday. Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church or the Sumner Volunteer Fire Dept.

Leon Charles, son of Fred and Blanche Robertson Reimler, was born August 11, 1928, in Sumner, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner, received his education in the Sumner Schools and graduated from Sumner High School in 1945. He was united in marriage with Alice Schult at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner. Bud and Alice made their home in Sumner, and Bud owned and operated H.J. Schult Son Feed & Grain of Sumner prior to retiring in 1992. He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church where he served as deacon on a couple of occasions, served twenty-five years on the Sumner Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Hospital Board, and played on the quite well-known Sumner Cubs amateur baseball team many years ago.

In addition to his wife, Alice of Sumner, he is survived by his children, Jane (Bill) Biskup of Texas City, Texas, Robert (Kathy) Reimler of Chanhassen, Minnesota, Thomas (Kristine) Reimler of Holmen, Wisconsin, and Michael (Tammy) Reimler of Rogers, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Kristin (Robert) Pollack, Brent (Amelie) Biskup, Nicholas (Jill) Reimler, Aaron Reimler, and Nathan Reimler; and six great grandchildren.

Bud was preceded in death by a son, William; a daughter, Catherine; his parents; and one brother, Gene.

Deepest Sympathy to you all. Sorry I didn't see this sooner. We lived very close to you at one time when we lived in town by the railroad track. I hope I have this right. My folks moved me to Florida when I was 10th grade in high school. A lot was because Dr's told Dad he had to get mom out of cold winters. I did live out in Colorado for 42 years before my sisters moved me back because of health reasons. Its nice to be close to family. My folks have passed which was Marion and Gerry Hill. I have one sister Janice that's close to me and helps me. Then Judy is in Tampa. The 3 of us do a lot together. We follow Southrn Gospel concerts. Mary Ann lives in Tn..
I am very close to Melvin & Verdean Ohlendorf in Sumner.
